The zaid crops are the crops which are grown from march to June in some parts of the country under artificial irrigation. A few examples of zaid crops are watermelons, pumpkins, gourds etc.

In Indian sub-continent, the crops grown on irrigated lands which do not have to wait for monsoons, in the short duration between Rabi and Kharif crop season, mainly from March to June, are called Zaid crops.For eg.Musk melon, Water melon etc.

The  crops  grown  in summer  season  are  called  zayed  or  summer  crops.  Moong,  muskmelon,  watermelon,  cucumber,  gourd  and  bitter  gourd  are  examples  of  zayed  crops.
