What link do you see between 'less girls going to school' and 'better-paid jobs going to men' ?
Lesser number of girls go to school in India and better paying jobs go to men because of gender stereotypes that are prevalent in our society.
For ages, household work has been deemed the exclusive domain of the girls/women of the house whereas the breadwinners are always the boys/men. In this scenario, little encouragement is given to girls' education. Their dropout rates are also high.
Men enjoy a privileged position in our society in this respect. They are not expected to do household chores and are given the best of education. As they receive uninterrupted and the best in education, they avail the better paying jobs as well.
