Dr. Sadao was a benevolent doctor. He cured a soldier who was from the enemy team. Although initially when he met the American soldier, Dr. Sadao was in a state of dilemma. He couldn’t understand whether he should tend the dying American soldier or hand him over to the Japanese army, as a patriot. He was kind hearted doctor and so his righteousness wins over him. He risked his own life and gave Tom, the American soldier, shelter in his house. As he was a patriot too, hence, later on informs the general to maintain the loyalty towards his country. The general did not want Dr. Sadao to get arrested. So, the general made a plan with Dr. Sadao. He told him that he will kill the soldier and remove his body somewhere else. Primarily he acceded to the general plan. However, being a good man, his inner conscience did not comply. After spending three sleepless nights he gradually helps the prisoner to escape.
