The two little boys Jacopo and Nicola, were hardworking and ambitious. The author and his companion came across them when they were selling strawberries standing by the road side and also later the next morning the brothers were busy polishing shoes, in the public square, and their business was brisk. On inquiring, the brothers said that they do many things to earn a living. They can also be tour guides, showing people places of visit. The author engaged them to do odd jobs such fetching cigarettes, booking seats for opera etc. They also sold newspaper and ran errands for people. What was striking about the boys was their willingness to work even under the hot sun into the late night. One can safely assume that the two young brothers were completely dedicated to their work, extremely determined, ambitious and hardworking.
