Shifting cultivation is when the physical and human environment work together. This is especially useful when the mass majority of the population are farmers. By shifting cultivation, this would help the used land for farming rejuvenate and get back the nutrients it has lost. Though this takes a long time, it still helps to recycle land and save resources.
Disadantages-
causes soil erosion on newly abandoned plots, forest fires if burning is careless. is a short term process and not very cost efficient, and does not provide sufficient food for the people.

Chemical fertilizers can increase yield per unit of land by enriching soil and chemical pesticides can help ensure a good harvest by controlling pests.
