What's the difference between molarity and molality?
Dear user!
The following table lists the differences between molarity and molality.
Molarity | Molality |
Molarity can be defined as the number of moles of solute present in 1 L or 1000 mL of a solution.
| Molality can be defined as the number of moles of solute present in 1 kg or 1000 g of the solvent. |
The unit for molarity is mol L-1 or mol dm-3. | The unit for molality is mol kg-1. |
It is temperature dependent. | It is temperature independent. |
All the best!!
