Oxygen and Carbon combine in the ratio 3:8. Therefore if 3 g of  carbon is burned in 53 g of oxygen, it will react with 8 g of oxygen only. Hence only 11 g of CO2 will be produced even in the presence of 53 g of O2

When 3g of CO2 is burnt in 50g of O2, 3g of C will react with just 8g of O2. The leftover 42g of O2 won't be utilised. Law of Constant Proportions governs this answer..
