which figures of speech are used in each lesson of literature leader? with examples.

most common literary devices are listed below

metaphor and simile

you might get confused when you are asked to differentiate between a metaphor and a simile

it is simple if you find words such as " as" or " like" mark it simile

i can give you an example

HE FOUGHT LIKE A LION IN THE BATTLE FIELD

HE WAS A LION IN THE BATTLE

out of this 1st one shows an application of simle and the 2nd one shows a metaphor

personification is an important literary device.

the poem frog and nightingale is entirely personified .

it's when those creatures/ objects which are not born a human are given / ornated with human qualitiesor humans traits. in the poem mirror sylvia path has personified the mirror which is an inanimte object by giving the mirror human qualities, human emotions, etc. she has given the mirror a throbbing heart. filled with grand human thoughts , regrets, sorrow, glee etc

alliteration is another literary device where a simiar sound repeates one after another in a line continuously

onomatopoeia is a device where the the word used to express a typical sound/ move etc sounds exactly how it goes.

the chilren heard the crow cawing

where cawing is a typical example of onomatopoia

oxymoron is a literary device where two words with opposite meanings are combined together and written either to give a sarcastic outlook or a grandiloquent taste.

example disagreeably pleasant

transferred ephithet is another one

here, a word is described by supplying an adjective

still the description will point to someother noun rather than the noun following the adjective. for example in the chapter letter there is a usage " the lonely way" . here regarding the case of ali thehis way is not lonely, his life is more lonely after miriam's disappearnce from his lfe. the word lonely describes something that can be spotted only outside the box.

dear friend remember to revise pun and irony also

and the the deliberate mistakes committed by the poets in their poems which are justified by the term poetic justice
