while naming the compounds how do we know whether the compound is
saturated or unsaturated ???

if the structure of that compound is given then
1) if it has single bonds between the carbon atoms then it is
saturated
2) if it has double or triple bonds between the carbon it is
unsaturated

if only the formula of a compound is given
then
use this formula-
1)CnH2n+2 for single bonds
2)CnH2n for double bonds
3)CnH2n-2for triple bonds
