Why a female voice is different from a male voice?

@ Kartikeyaa, Good effort. For shrillness or flatness of a sound we refer pitch of the sound. And pitch depends on the frequency.
If the pitch is high the sound will be shrill like females have shrill sound. And, if the pitch is low the sound will be flat or less shrill like males have heavy or flat sound.

 Generally, girls have a high pitched voice,

whereas boys have a deep voice. In
adolescent boys, sometimes, the muscles
of the growing voice box go out of control
and the voice becomes hoarse. This state
may remain for a few days or weeks after
