why are anode rays called canal rays

Anode Rays are called the canal rays as the cathode used is porforated and the anode rays pass throuh the holes or canals of The cathode opposite to the anode.

Anode rays are positively charged .so they are bend towards perforated cathode which is negatively charged and pass through them.since they have passed through canals or holes by producing fluorescence. Therefore they are known as canal rays.

hope this helps.. :)

Anode rays are also called canal rays because while performing the discharge tube experiment, these rays were found to pass through the holes in the cathode, called canals.

THIS IS BECAUSE THEY THE ANODE RAYS PASS THROUGH PERFORATED CATHODE RAYS. THE CATHODE RAYS HAVE HOLES/CANALS WHICH ARE PASSED BY THE ANODE RAYS. THAT IS WHY ANODE RAYS ARE CALLED CANAL RAYS. :) HOPE I HELPED.
