why are igloos dome shaped?

Dome shaped roofs are structurally the strongest of all. As igloos are found in polar region, they need to tolerate very high pressure of snow fall almost all the year. Thus they need a strong roof. Moreover this dome shape acts as a good heat insulator that keeps the houses warm.
