why chloroacetic acid is stronger than acetic acid.state one chemical method each is distinguish between he following pair

1.acetaldehyde and aceton

2. phenol and benzoic acid

3. propanone and ethanol

In chloroacetic acid inductive effect due to the presence of chlorine group increases the polarity of hydroxide bond and thus makes it more acidic as compared to acetic acid.

Distinguishing between acetaldehyde and acetone: Acetaldehyde gives silver mirror with Tollen’s reagent:

CH3CHO + 2[Ag (NH3)2] OH → CH3COONH4 + 2Ag + H2O+3NH3

Acetone does not give this test
