Can be grown in a small area

Produce lots of offspring Produce pure plants when allowed to self-pollinate for several generations Can be artificially cross-pollinated

mendel choose pea plant for studying inheritance because pea plants had a number of clear cut diffrences which were easy to tell apart for example, some pea plant were tall( having long stem) where as other were dwarf (having short stem) etc.

another reason was that they were self pollinating( which enabled them to produce next generation of plants easily).
