Why do plant cells have cell wall and animal cells do not?

Plant cells have cell wall because plants do not move from one place to another and hence they require rigidity which is provided by the cell wall but animal cells move. The cell wall if present in the animal cell will be a hinderance to movement.

Cell walls are supporting structures that help the plant to have a fixed shape and protect it from injury. Other than that, it helps to keep the plant turgid so that it can stay firm and upright. Because when it enters a high water potential solution, as water moves in, the water exerts turgor pressure on the cell wall and the cell wall thus exerts an opposing pressure to keep water out. Hence cell wall is needed for the plant.

On the other hand, animal cells do not need to keep the structures, as they have the skeletal system to protect the organs and cushion them against any external injuries.

Unlike  the  animal  cells,  the  plant  cells  need  additional  protection  as  they  are  exposed  to  the  various  movements by  the  wind  and  the  water. They  cannot  move  like  animals.   So,  plant  cells  have  an  additional  coating  of  a  protective  layer  called  the  cell  wall  whereas  the  animals  do  not  have  it.

Apart from plants, cell wall which is a permeable structure is also present in bacteria, fungi and algae. The major function of cell wall is to provide rigidity and strength and also providesmechanisms for plants to take up water. Since animals are blessed with movement and have a body plan which imparts them strength, they do not need a cell wall

Plant cells need protection against variations in temperature, high wind speed, atmospheric moisture etc. They are exposed to these variations because they cannot move.  Therefore in addition to the cell membrane, plants have a thick outer wall called cell wall. This additional layer also helps plants to maintain rigidity.

main purpose of cell wall is to give the plant rigid and strength....we, animals' already have skeleton to do that for us so it will be useless for us to have it

We animals have our skin to protect the cells but in the case of plants the cells are present on the open parts of trees and plants, to get protection from disasters and attacks they have cell walls. It common words plant cells have cell walls for protection.
