why do v get an electric shock when v touch an open live wire without slippers on or any other insulation beneath our feet ??? i mean that wht such thingzz happen when v touch a bare live so tht v get a shock !!!

Hi Akshay!

When we touch a live wire and ground, current flows to the ground through our body. The directions of flow of electrons in an AC supply reverses periodically. That is, for a short period of time, the electrons move in one direction and for another period, it moves in the opposite direction.

Buildings are provided with earthing for the safety of the electrical appliances and human beings. Earthing is accomplished by large earth rods fixed in a dig in the ground, which is filled with earthing compound. The earth wires of the wiring of the building are connected to this rod. You might have noticed that there are three pins in most of the electrical appliances like iron box, refrigerator, etc. The thick pin is the earth pin. If the insulation of an appliance is broken and the live wire comes in contact with the metal part of the appliance, a large current will flow through the earth pin to the earth. This will cause the MCB to trip or the fuse to blow away, as current flow is above the rated current of the MCB or fuse, and thus protects the person who uses the appliance.

Good work @Sangam!! Keep writing!!

Cheers!!

 hahahahaha =D

di...aapka bhai itna bada ullu nhi hai =p... bt there's a reason 4 tht question 2

bt 4get itt, m all okk n whole now ! ! !

thnxx a lotzz 4 the answer di, bt i wanted 2 know tht wht occurs when v touch the wire, regarding the direction of flow of electrons n wht role does earthing takes place, why izz itt necesary ???

plzz temme if u cn di

hve a gud nyt sleep di =)

Electricity wants to flow through the ground. If you touch a wire, u will feel a shock because you complete a circuit between the wire and the ground. A human body is used as a conductor  .By wearing rubber slippers, you break the circuit because rubber is an insulator -- it does not conduct electricity. So, by wearing rubber slippers, you are protecting yourself from getting electrocuted.

a request  :- Bro never try to test that.....  :-D

 thnxx a lot sir... it helped ! ! !

bt cn u temme tht how izz the circuit completed when v touch the live wire without any proper insulation... i mean 2 ask tht whether the electrons flow frm our body 2 the source of the current or they flow frm the earth, then through our body n then 2 the current source ??? earth izz an electron donor or attracts em 2wardzz itself ???
