Why do we need political institutions?

We need pilitical parties and institutions To run a country we need people and In a nation there are large number of people. All of them cannot contest along to get the political power so we need certain group to represent people. These kinds of group are called political parties and institutions .

In the strictest use, political institutions refer to the rules, norms, and regulations placed in society to affect the distribution of power amongst its members. In this sense, we need political institutions as the most basic means of coordinating people to complete basic - and more advanced - types of social decision-making or maintenance, such as expansion, security, and specialisation of labour.

Need for Political Institutions

The Prime Minister and the Cabinet are the institutions that take all the significant decisions.

 The Civil Service officers are responsible for implementing the Cabinet’s decisions.

 The Supreme Court adjudicates the disputes between the government and citizens.

Powers of the Prime Minister

• Chairs Cabinet meetings.
• Takes the final decision in case of differences among various ministers on a particular issue.
• Coordinates the working of different ministries.
• All the ministers work under his supervision.
• Can remove/appoint/transfer ministers.
• Assigns work to ministers.
• If the Prime Minister resigns/quits, the whole ministry quits.
