Persome feels that people pretend to be sick so that the Bishop calls on them. She feels that people take advantage of the simplicity and kindheartedness of the Bishop who extends his helping hand to anybody who is in distress.

It is consdered a great honour if a bishop vists a man in his own house and prays with them. The people of the place where the bishop lived were aware of the fact that their bishop was very kind. And so persome feels that inorder to be visited by the bishop the people of the town pretend to be sick.

Persome is not as generous as her brother. She is practical and wordly - wise. She feels that people pretend to be sick in order to exploit her brother's magnanimity. They want the Bishop to be near them and help them financially . She is worried about the future of her brother.

Persomes complaint is that people just take advantage of the Bishops kind nature and generosity. They dont really care about his comfort.Persome is very fond of her brother, the Bishop. She looks after him like a mother looks after her child. She is really anxious about the well being of her brother.
