Why does petrol catch fire easily but a wood does not ?

Expect a answer by meritnation expert !!

Hi Ishika ,I hope this answer helps u alot- A substance does not catch fire until its temparature is raised to its ignition temperature.Different substances have different ignition temperature.Petrol have a  very low ignition temperature so it catches fire easily.but wood has a  high ignition temparature so it does not catches fire easily..

Hi Ishika

As the ignition temperature of petrol is less than of wood so it catches fire easily.

Best of Luck

Petrol is a liquid. It also has an additive in it called benzene. The benzene has a very low flash point where it begins to give off vapors. To burn, a object must be in a gaseous or vapor form to burn. Since the benzene in petrol allows it to vaporize at or below room temperature, it will burn as soon as flame is put to it.

Wood on the other hand is a solid and must be converted to a gas or vapor to burn. This requires a large amount of heat to convert the wood, a solid, to a gas. This process is known as pyrolysis. That means until a sufficient amount of heat is generated, the wood will always take longer to burn.

BECAUSE THE IGNITION TEMPERATURE OF PETROL IS LESS THAN WOOD

becouse petrol contains some highly rective minerals such as pottasium sodium.
