why does the woman in the poem mirror turns to the candles and the moon inspite of the fact that they are liars?

The woman knows that the mirror tells the truth and the candle and the moon are liars. As she looks in the mirror, she sees her true self, but she hopes to see something else. She still wants to think she is young so she looks at the moon and candle for assurance.
