why farmers add slaked lime to acidic soil ?

Plants do not grow well in acidic or basic soil. Hence, to neutralize the acidity of soil, quick lime (calcium oxide) or slaked lime (calcium hydroxide) is added to soil. To neutralize excess basicity, soils are treated with organic matter, containing organic acids.

Slaked lime is a base when added to acidic soil it will neutralize and be fit for cultivation.

slaked lime is basic in nature. hence it is used to neutrilise the acidic effect of soil that causes inconvenience in croping and reduces it's fertility...

so as to increase soil fertility, farmer's add slaked lime to the soil.
