Why had Helen the ghost been helping the narrator to write ghost stories? Why was she going on strike? What conditions did she place for providing continued help?

Helen had been helping the narrator to write stories as she too had suffered as the narrator with the lack of ideas. Also she and other gjosts had been helping other writers as they had the exact knowledge about ghosts (which they themselves were) this helped the narrator to write realistic ghost stories.

She was on a strike as she and the other ghosts had been called and needed too often due to which they were tired.

Helen was ready to call-off the strike if the narrator promises her that he will advise as many people (especially his wife) to stop using Ouija boards.

Helen was a ghost who was an unsuccessful writer in her lifetime so after her death she & the ghosts who were like her formed a Writer's Inspiration Bureau. the members of that bureau helped writers with a mind soft enough to accept impression to write ghost stories. So the writer was alloted to helen to help him write ghost stories so she helped him to write. she was going on strike becoz all the ghosts were fed up of the Ouija Board fanatics in which people called the ghosts & asked them questions & the ghosts had to sit there answering them for hours so they were going on a strike. she provided conditions for continued help the were that he should not use ouija board & stop his relatives or frnds also from using the ouija board.

Helen provided inspiration to the narrator to write ghost stories. She and co-ghosts were going on a strike because they were tired of answering questions of Ouija board fanatics. They felt they were disturbed too often to answer silly questions. She urged the narrator to influence his friends and acquaintances to stop using the Ouija board. It was on this condition she promised to help the narrator to write stories.

She and the other co-ghosts were going on a strike because they were tired  and exausted of answering questions of the mind-boggling Ouija board fanatics. They felt they were disturbed too often to answer silly questions and were called off their beds too early and frequently such that they had to give up haunting.. She urged the narrator to exert his influence over his friends and acquaintainces to get rid of those wierd boards. In this condition  she will definately help the narrator to write those stories....
