why is blood considered a connective tissue?

Blood connects all the cells of the body and transports all the essential things including hormones, Oxygen, waste materials etc. from one part of the body to the another. Therefore, it is called connective tissue.

Blood is considered a connective tissue because it carrys the oxygen throughout the body to all other tissues.

Blood is considered a connective tissue for two basic reasons: (1) embryologically, it has the same origin (mesodermal) as do the other connective tissue types and (2) blood connects the body systems together bringing the needed oxygen, nutrients, hormones and other signaling molecules, and removing the wastes. In circulating blood two different cell types are found: enucleated erythrocytes or red blood cells and nucleated leukocytes or white blood cells.

Hope it helps!!

connective tissues consists of loosely spaced cells embedded in an intercellular  matrix(fluid or rigid)

blood is a connective which has a liquid matrix (plasma)in which WBC's ,RBC's and platelets are suspended .

blood also has dissolved salts ,hormones ,protiens etc.

Blood's function is to transport oxygen (RBC)to all the parts of the body ,to fight infection(WBC) etc.

pls give thumbs up!!!!!!!!!!!!!

cheers!!!!!!!!
