Cricket is considered to be a colonial game as it emerged from Great Britian and spread to colonial countries such as INDIA,NEW ZEALAND etc.that's why it's known as a colonial game.

1. the pre industialisation of the game stopped it to expand.

2.it wa played only in the colonial countries either by the white settelers or by the localities who wanted to copy their colonial masters.

England introduced the game of cricket to all of its colonies. A mere game helped to strengthen the hold of colonialism in the alien soil. The game reasserted the control and reaffirmation by distancing the natives from the rulers.

Cricket remained a colonial game. The reason was that it had a pre-industrial oddness which

made it very difficult to export. It was played only in countries that the British conquered andruled. Though the game was brought into the colonies by the masters, they did nothing to makeit popular. The Afro-Caribbean population was discouraged from participating in organisedclub cricket.
