Why is pluto called dwarf planet?

Pluto is a dwarf planet because it is not big enough to be a major planet. (Earth, Mars, Mercury, etc.) There are other dwarf planets in our solar system, too.

hey guys, i checked and found this answer...a planet has to meet three conditions, which are:

  • It needs to be in orbit around the Sun – Yes, so maybe Pluto is a planet.
  • It needs to have enough gravity to pull itself into a spherical shape – Pluto…check
  • It needs to have “cleared the neighborhood” of its orbit – Uh oh. Here’s the rule breaker. According to this, Pluto is not a planet.

so it is a dwarf planet :)
