why is the difference between the duration of day and night hardly felt at kanyakumari but notso in kashmir ?

Kanyakumari and Kashmir are located at different latitudes and at different locations from the equator. The equator has equal days and nights. Hence, the differences are felt more at Kashmir than Kanyakumari.

the difference of day and night also increases from north to south.

it is about 45 minutes in kanyakumari and about 4 hours at kashmir.

our time is set in Mirzapur as a standard meridian time which is a time for whole India...

Kanyakumari is just 8 degrees away from the equator. As equator receives the direct Sun rays, there won't be hardly any difference between the day & night. Where as, Kashmir is 37 degrees away from the equator. So there can be about 5 hrs difference between day & night.

The latitudinal extent influences the duration of the day and night, as one moves from South to North.
As Kanyakumari lies close to the equator, the sun rays are felt more whereas Kashmir lies above the tropic of cancer, therefore sun rays are felt slanting towards the north of equator so the difference is felt more in kanyakumari than kashmir.

These places do not have the same durations of day and night.

  • The circle of illumination divides the equator into two equal parts.
  • The days and nights are therefore of the same duration at the equator.
  • As Kanyakumari is quite near the equator, the day-night difference is hardly one hour. But as we move away from the equator towards the poles, the variations in the duration of day and night becomes greater.
  • It is becuase of the unequal divisions of the parallels of the latitudes by the circle of illumination. Kashmir is over 30o away from the equator and so the difference in the duration of day and night is over four hours.

The difference between day and night is hardly felt in Kanyakumari as compared to Kashmir due to the difference in the latitudes of the two places. Kanyakumari is located in the south of India and is much more closer to equator that Kashmir. Therefore, it is less affected by differences in day and night

Thumbs up please

what is force

The difference between day and night is hardly felt at kanyakumari and not so kashmir because kanyakumari lies very close to the equator but kashmir lies far away from the equator.

thumbs up if it helps!!

Still i dont get it properly. Day and night difference at Kanyakumari is 45 minutes means, morning time sun rays will fall on Kanyakumari, 45 mins later sun rays fall on equator. Am I right?

kanyakumari is just 8 degrees away from the equator .As the equator recieves direct sun rays , there is not much difference between the day and night of the kanyakumari .

where as the kashmir,  it is 37 degrees far from the equator .So the kashmir haves 4 hrs difference between the day and night

kanyakumari is near the equater and the diff. is nt felt as the direct rays of sun fall on it . and kashmir is far away frm the equator n he rays do not fell directly so kashmir have 4 hrs difference between day and night
