why ribs are called bicephalic?

Ribs have two heads (articulation surfaces) on their both dorsal and ventral ends and that is way they are known as bicephalic.

becoz  it joins with vertebral column in dorsal axis n joins with strenum  in the ventral axia.. thus it is called  bicephalic
