Why Rough Endoplasmic Reticulum is found abundantly in secretory cells?

The rough endoplasmic reticulum(RER) are studded with several ribosomes on their outer surface. The main function of RER is protein synthesis. Once protein is synthesised inside RER , it is enclosed in a vesicle and moves towards another organelle called golgi apparatus for further modification and export from the cells. Thus, cells that specialize in protein secretion (i.e., secretory cells)contain large amounts of rough endoplasmic reticulum. For example, cells of pancreas that produce insulin have large amount of RER.
