The gond kingdom was very rich. They exported elephants to the other kingdoms, including the mughals. One of the reasons why Akbar decided to invade Garh Katanga was his desire to capture and become the owner of this resource.

The prominent Mughal king Akbar was interested in the Gonds as - 1. Garh katanga, a Gond Kingdom had queen Rani Durgavati. He wanted to make her a vassal of his kingdom as she was very powerful. 2. The kingdom was rich. They practiced agriculture. They exported elephants to other kingdoms. Their administrative set-up was well organized. ALSO 1. The terriotory of Gond was in central part of the subcontinent. 2. Mughals ruled over the northern part. They wished to expand their control over the southern kingdoms of the subcontinent. 3. In order to do that, they first had to control in the central part of the subcontinent which was ruled by Gonds. 4. Therefore, Mughals were intrested in the land of the Gonds.

Mughals were interested in the lands of gonds because the gond kingdom of garha katanga had 70000 villages. Garh katanga was a rich state. Gond kindom was very rich kingdom. They also had a huge resource of elephants which were very useful for transportation. The gonds also had a huge amount of booty of precious coins. Therefore for all these reasons mughals attacked the gonds.
