The Pentangular tournament was condemned by Mahatma Gandhi because it was based on religional an communal lines. It was dividing the nation at a time when nationalists were trying to unite the country.

Gandhi condemned the Pentagular tournament as a community divisive competition that was out of place in a time when the nationalists were trying to unite India 's diverse population

 

The teams were divided on religious grounds - Parsis , Hindus & Muslims
