Why ventricles have thicker walls than auricles ?

  • -1
@ hello Ks067,

Because they need to be stronger. The atria only pump the blood into the lower chambers, the ventricles. Whereas, they have to pump the blood either to the heart or the rest of the body.

Hope this helps you......!! Cheers @ thumps up......!!

The human heart has four chambers. The upper two chambers, the right and left atria, are receiving chambers for blood. The atria are sometimes known as auricles. They collect blood that pours in from veins, blood vessels that return blood to the heart. The heart’s lower two chambers, the right and left ventricles, are the powerful pumping chambers. The ventricles propel blood into arteries, blood vessels that carry blood away from the heart.

Ventricles have thicker valve thicker wall so that they can withstand the intense pressure by the heart.

While auricles carry blood towards the heart and suffers reduced pressure so it has thinner wall

Hope this helps you......!! Cheers @ thumps up......!!

 Short And Simple -

Ventricles has to carry high pressure as Artria only pumps blood to lower chambers of the heart .

-Thanks

Atrial wall is less muscular or less thicker than ventricle wall because atria receive blood from various parts of the body at low pressure while the ventricles have to pump blood to other parts with high pressure.

because when the veins pump blood downwards the pressure of blood is more .So, the aurical have to be thicker to control the pressure of blood.

The ventricles have thicker walls than compared to auricles because the the ventricles have to pump blood to the lungs and to the aorta with high pressure  .. so inorder to withstand the force of pumping   the ventricles are thick walled
