why was the french revolution considered better than the Russian revolution?

Dear Student,

It is important to note that any revolution marks a complete change in social, political, economic structure of the society.
French revolution left a great legacy and no doubt has been considered as  the mother of all revolutions because of the following reasons:

a. The French revolution certainly had a long lasting impact on the people of the World.
b.  The political and constitutional changes that came about in the wake of the French Revolution led to the transfer of sovereignty from the monarchy to a body of French citizens.
c. The revolution declared the supremacy of the people and that government must represent the will of the people.
e. The ideas of liberty and democratic rights were the most important legacy of the French Revolution
The ideals and virtues of liberty , equality , fraternity inspired many movements in the 19th and 20th century, throughout the World.
f. We may give example of freedom struggle in many colonies, women's suffrage movement which were based on such ideals.
g.The revolution was a fight for equality and justice, to do away with social privileges and establish a society based on merit.
h. It brought about the abolition of serfdom, freed the peasantry and acknowledged the ideas of social, economic and personal liberty.
i. the French revolution established the idea of  government based on consent and to be answerable and accountable to the people, thus laying the foundation of a democratic rule.
j. The french revolution established equality of opportunities for all as the basis of social order which inspired many democratic constitutions of the World.
k. It recognised basic inalienable rights of man like right to life, freedom of speech, freedom of opinion, equality.

-The Russian revolution too had its impact but it established communist government with complete state control over economy and polity.
- It established complete regulation and control over the society.
- The communist government established one party rule with no choice to the people.
-Such a system could not survive for long and had its own flaws.
-The disintegration of Soviet union bears testimony to this fact.
