The Mayapuri incident was a radiological incident. The incident occurred because of cobalt 60 radiation from an orphaned source which was scrapped off by University of Delhi. Around 8 people got affected by the radiation out of which one died. Immediately after the incident the area was sealed and the affected people were taken to the hospital. Government promised to install machines that could detect the presence of radioactive metals. A National Green Tribunal has been set up to look into the matter.
