John was a hen- pecked husband who was always afraid of her wife. He could never stop her wife to buy new fads. He always feared that his wife should not see him with the ghost, Helen. He had been very protective throughout as in the end he kept his arm behing his wife's shoulder to hold her when she would faint while seeing the ghost. He had also been self diparaging when he says that stories always come to his way and he was accidently a ghost fiction writer.
