Respected teachers and my friends,I wish you a happy independence day.

INDEPENDANCE DAY means a day when we had got freedom from not only our brute rulers but freedom from want from fulfillment of right needs...

India was under the British rule for 3-4 centuries. It was in 1857 India started it's independence struggle forcefully through a revolt named "The Great Revolt" against the British.

Mahatma Gandhi was the spine and brain behind the Indian independence struggle and finally her Independence. "Non-violence" or "Ahimsa" against the cannons and rifles of the so called "MIGHTY" British. His words of wisdom were followed by almost every Indian of that age to follow non-violence and struggle with perseverance and the British finally manumitted India from it's bondage. India's independence struggle is a huge epic on it's own. "NON_VIOLENCE" was the weapon used to free India. That's why India even today doesn't want resort to force or war unless there is some menace to the security/integrity of Indian unity.
India gained independence after nearly 200 years of British rule on 15 August 1947 and Indian tricolor flag was unfurled by Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of India, on the ramparts the Red Fort of Delhi Proud to be an Indian. Thank You One and all. Jai Hindh.............

The midnight of August 15, 1947 is memorable for every Indian on earth, as it is the time, when India gained independence from the stranglehold of the mighty British. The otherwise suppressed tri-colored flag of India was given its due respect, when it was hoisted in the midnight on the Independence Day. Since then, the red-letter day is celebrated with pomp and gaiety, across the length and breadth of India. Cultural programs and flag-hoisting ceremonies are the predominant affair of the day, while colorful kites fill the sky in the evening, to symbolize freedom. People indulge themselves in remembering the heroes of the freedom struggle and pay homage to them.

In all the schools and colleges across India, no academic work is done on Independence Day, but all the students and staff members would be present in their respective educational institutions, to celebrate the day. A sort of social gathering is arranged in the educations institutions, wherein cultural programs are organized. Flag hoisting ceremony takes place within their respective premises. As the flag is hoisted by the head of the institution (mostly the principal), students sing national anthem and pay respect to their flag and to uphold the sovereignty of the country.

Students and teachers celebrate the day at their respective educational institutions, while others back home spend the day either by going for an outing or watching special programs on television. Majority of the people tune in to Doordarshan in the morning, to watch the live telecast of Prime Minister's speech at the Red Fort in Delhi, as it is the major highlight of the Independence Day of India. Prime Minister's speech and patriotic songs and documentaries showing excerpts from the freedom struggle are aired on the national channels, while the private television channels make it a point that their viewers are amused all through the day. Hence, they telecast cultural programs, movies related to independence, apart from the patriotic songs that regenerate the hidden patriotism in people.

Shops across India are strictly directed to keep their shutters down on Independence Day, while you can still spot the groceries and small stores opening up late in the evening. All government offices remain closed on August 15. India Gate is the center of attraction and a nice place to hang out in the evening of Independence Day, as the structure is attractively illuminated. The sky in filled with kites of various shapes and colors. As a whole, it can be said that Independence Day is a holiday much awaited by people in India, every year.

GUD MORNING EVERYONE
The 15th of August is a very important day in the history of our country - India.

It was on this day in 1947 that India became independent. We won freedom after a hard struggle. On this day our first Prime Minister Pundit Jawaharlal Nehru unfurled The National Flag at The Red Fort for the first time.

All the people irrespective of their caste, look and creed celebrate this day every year amidst great rejoicing. It is declared a public holiday. On this day we take a pledge to defend our freedom with all our might.

The Independence Day is celebrated all over India with great joy. People hold meetings. Fly the tricolor and sing the national anthem. There are great enthusiasms among them.

In Delhi, the capital of India, this day is celebrated with great pomp and show. People gather in large numbers into the parade ground in front the red fort. There is a great hustle and bustle everywhere. They line up the roads all leading to the fort and eagerly wait for the arrival of the Prime Minter.

The foreign ambassadors and dignitaries also partipcate in the celebrations. The prime minster unfurls the national flag. A guard of honor is given by the local police and armed forces personnel. A salute of 21 guns is fired. The military band plays the national anthem. The Prime Minister greets the ambassadors seated at the parapet and delivers a speech.

Homage is paid to those who sacrificed their lives for the freedom of our country. After the Prime Minister’s speech, the functions come to an end with the recital of our national anthem, ‘Jan Gina Manna’ and the crowd begins to melt away.

The Independence Day reminds us of those patriots who fought and suffered to win freedom for us.
THANK U
