CBSE Class 6 Maths: Important Topics for SA 1

1SA1 or the Summative Assessment 1 is less than a week away and you must be ideally getting on with your revisions. When it comes to Maths, in addition to revision of concepts, getting ample practice with maths problems is essential. Given the dearth of time and the large syllabus, it is most important to prioritize what topics are important in Class 6 CBSE Maths and create your timetable accordingly.

The key points for revision and these quick tips will be extremely helpful to you in prioritising preparations and revisions for your exam. Here are chapter wise tips and tricks for CBSE Class 6 Maths:

 

Chapter 1 – Knowing our Numbers

This chapter is quite easy for all. From this chapter, a maximum of 2 questions might come in the exam.

Important Topics:
1. Comparing and Ordering Numbers
2. Indian and International System of Numeration
3. Mathematical Operations on Large Numbers
4. Using brackets to simplify calculations
5. Conversion between Hindu-Arabic and Roman Numerals

a) You should know the difference between Indian and International system of numeration.
b) Don’t forget to learn the metric conversion table.
c) Basic principle for simplifying the calculations is BODMAS, so in the exam remember this short formula of six alphabets.
d) Conversion between Hindu-Arabic and roman numerals is the most important topic of   this chapter, so in last be sure to go through it.

Chapter 2 – Whole Numbers

This interesting chapter is quite easy and fun to learn but you must understand what whole numbers are.

Important Topics:
1. Mathematical Operations on Number Line
2. Distributive Property of Whole Numbers for Multiplication over Addition
3. Additive and Multiplicative Identities for Whole Numbers

2. Prime and Composite Numbers
3. Common Factors and Common Multiples
4. Divisibility of a Number by 5 and 10
5. Divisibility of a Number by 2, 4 and 8
6. Divisibility of a Number by 3 and 9
7. Prime Factorisation of Numbers

a) In most places perfect numbers are not given much importance but a student should know the meaning of perfect numbers as it will enhance your general aptitude.
b) Go through all the divisibility rules once as they plays a significant role in this chapter.

Chapter 6 – Integers

Important Topics:
1. Comparing and Ordering Integers
2. Addition of Integers
3. Subtraction of Integers

Chapter 7 – Fractions

Chapter 8 – Decimals
