How to Deal with Boring Subjects?

So a new day dawns and you begin your day at school. You are all prepped up to have an amazing day filled with games, chatter with friends, extracurricular activities, the lunch break.. and no! we haven’t left out studies.. 😉

Well, when it comes to studies and the classes you have to attend, we all have our favorites and least favorites. There are language subjects, social subjects, science based subjects and business and commerce based subjects and everyone has a definite liking to some or the other. On the other hand, there are subjects that you find extremely boring! The boring subjects are worse than the difficult ones, as you can’t even manage to muster the courage to start studying them, let alone tackling their problems.

So what do you do? Do you totally ignore the subject and let it be? Can you afford to? You ignore the subject and eventually lose out on marks in the examinations. And so, even though you are a good student, your lack of interest in one subject could pull your percentage down. Here’s what you can do… Make the subject less boring! Yes, it is possible and you can make it happen with the help of a few steps. The following are some of them:

1. Find out reasons for not liking a particular subject
Is it because you don’t like numbers? Or dates? Or long tales about wars and stuff? There has to be some element to the subject that makes you like it less. So find out what that point is and then you can try and make it disappear.

2. Look for cool things to do with boring subjects
What comes to your aid here is the use of mnemonic devices and tools. There are several things you need to learn and remember in the boring subjects right? Take the assistance of cool aids like illustrations, word associations, story building and others in order to learn lengthy things without any difficulty. Also, you may look for tools like pictures in your mind and mental images of sorts.

3. Do not let the anxiety of the subject get to you
You shall have to be slightly melodramatic about this one, but the best way to curb the anxiety about a particular subject is to tell it you are not scared of it. Grasp the context, the main scenario of the subject. And then, you can lessen the fear of losing marks too!

4. Apply the knowledge in everyday life
There are several ways you can apply the knowledge of these boring subjects in your course. Find out how and where you can practically apply the knowledge of subjects like maths, the sciences, history, geography, political sciences and the likes.

5. Try and study the subject regularly
There are no real shortcuts for knowing the subject. You have to give in some amount of hard work into studying it even if you don’t love it. Plus, you can be sure that if you apply the points given above, you will definitely find yourself getting slightly interested in the subjects gradually.
