icseThe Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) plans to revise the syllabus of class 11 for subjects physics, chemistry, mathematics and biology. This step is being taken to keep up with other boards and in view of competitive exams.

“The council will also bring uniformity to the syllabus of CBSE and ICSE syllabi, which vary a little in terms of sequence of chapters. Earlier, some chapters in CBSE were taught earlier and later in ICSE; but with standardization in syllabus, the chapters in both boards will run parallel,” says Gerry Arathoon, Chief Executive and Secretary of CISCE. He also added that the question papers will also be rephrased for ICSE so that they can keep up with the CBSE board and other competitive exams. “This step is being taken to remove the misconception from the minds of the students about CBSE board being better to take up competitive or entrance exams. With this, ISCE will be on a par with other national boards as well as standards of entrance exams,” said the CISCE head. The changes are most likely to be introduced by 2018.
