Adolescence and Growing up

Anne’s diary is an exercise in introspection and contemplation; it charts its writer's gradual development from a flippant and petulant young girl phase to that of a mature, observant and reflective young woman. Adolescence marks the beginning of experience which teaches the value of accepting differences and learning to be patient. Although there was a lot of friction between Anne and the adults around her, we later find her making attempts to be peaceable where she listens rather than just talk.

The period of adolescence has a formative influence on a person’s mind, defining his/her character and behavior as he/she grows up. Growing up comes with its fair share of woes and struggles. We find Anne struggling with the two sides of her personality: the fun-loving happy-go-lucky side of ther and the more mature, meditative and insightful side that learns…
