2) chromatography works on the principle that different components of  a liqud are diffferently adsorbed by an adsorbent. (adsorption is a surface phenomena in which the molecules of a particular componenet gets attached to the surface of a higher element like silica gel kept in shoes adsorbs water vapours and acts as an adsorbent).

3)dienes are compounds having 2 double bonds in them.
