If heat is the total K.E of molecules while temperature is the average K.E of the molecules, wouldn't temperature depend on heat and not the other way round?
Also, if this be the case, then the answer to the 1st question to the topic test of the 1st topic of Heat is wrong.

In Physics class, my teacher said that heat was the sum of the total kinetic and potential energy possessed by molecules. In Meritnation, the chapter says heat is the total kinetic energy possessed by the molecules. Which is correct?
