Q 12. On 31st December, 2016, the cash book of XYZ Bros showed an overdraft of Rs 69,200. From the following particulars make a bank reconciliation statement and ascertain the balance as per pass book
i) Debited by bank for Rs 2,000 on account of interest on overdraft and Rs 5000 on account of charges for collecting bills.
ii) Cheques drawn but not cashed before 31st December, 2016 in pass book.
iii) The bank has collected interest and has credited Rs 6,000 in pass book.
iv) A bills receivable for Rs 7,000 previously discounted with the bank had been dishonoured and debited in the pass book.
v) Cheques paid into bank but not collected and credited before 31st December, 20166 amounted to Rs 60,000.

Q4. Prepare Bank Reconciliation Statement as on 31
(i) Debit balance as per pass Block Rs.56,000.
(ii) Cheques of Rs. 18,000 drawn, out of which cheques of Rs. 7,000 presented on 4

(iii) Credit side of cash book overcast by Rs. 1800.
(iv) A cheque of Rs. 11,000 drawn on their current A/c has been recorded as drawn on saving A/c.
(v) A cheque of Rs. 85,000 issued to creditor, has been entered in Cash Book as 58.000.
(vi) A bill of Rs. 8,500 discounted with the bank is entered in Cash book without recording the discounting charges of Rs. 600.
(vii) Cheque received from a Debtor recorded in Cash column of Cash book and omitted to be banked.

Answers to this ASAP
Q7. The Bank balance of a Trader as reported by his Bank branch had shown an unfavourable balance of Rs.11000 stood at 31.10.15 which does not match with the balance as shown by traders book. Later following observations were identified ;-
i) Cheques issued to suppliers during Oct totalling 13500 was presented for payment on 4.11.15 and of these, banker dishonoured on cheque of Rs. 4000 in technical reason.
ii) A customer's direct deposit in the traders bank of Rs. 2,700 had credited by bank in other trader's pass book and the customer informed the trader on 20/08/10
iii) While carrying forward, a credit balance of Rs. 5,300 from on page to another. It has been posted as Debit Balance as Rs. 3,500 by the trader.
iv) Payment column has been under casted by Rs.1200 in pass book and received column has been cover casted by Rs. 1100 in cash book.
v) Bank charges made by bank of Rs. 2,500 was rewarded in Traders book as bank interest of Rs.500 only.
vi) A balance transfer of Rs. 6500 was made by the bank from trader's A/C to his daughter's A/c but recorded reversely by the trader's Accountant.
vii) During October, out of total cheques deposited in the bank of Rs. 28,600, cheques of Rs.13,100 was realised by bank upto 31/10 and a cheque of Rs.3,200 was dishonourd by bank for which no information was given to the trader.

Given: Overdraft balance as per cash book.
1) There is a debit in the passbook of Rs10 for back charges and Rs50 for interest.
2) A customer directly paid into his bank Rs1000, but it wasn't shown in the Cash Book.
3) Bank has padi insurance premium of Rs400 according to his standing instruction, this isn't recorded in the Cash Book.
Please tell me whether to deduct or add in each case

From the following situations, prepare a brs on 31st Dec,2016
1. On 31st Dec,2016, overdraft balance as per the bank column of the CB Rs.17000
2. Cheques amounting to Rs.5000 were paid into the bank but from these only Rs.2200 were credited in the PB within the date.
3. Another cheque of Rs.3000 have been debited to the bank column of the CB but the cheque was not recorded in PB.
4. During the month, three cheques totalling Rs.8000 were issued but a cheque of Rs.2000 was encashed after 31st Dec,2016.
5. A debtor of Mohan directly deposited Rs.7500 into bank account. But there was no record of the same in the CB.
6. Bank charges of Rs.240 recorded twice in the PB, while it was correctly recorded in the CB.
7.On 31st Dec 2016, dividend was collected by the bank of Rs.900 and credited in the PB but this was not recorded in the CB.
8. A cheque for Rs.1600 received from Suresh was dishonoured but this was not recorded in the CB.
9. The PB was debited with Rs.200 for interest but the same was not entered in the CB.
10. He withdrew Rs.2000 from the bank but this was not recorded in the CB.
