Collective nouns are those nouns that are used to represent a group of people, things, or animals. For e.g,
A flock of sheep.
an army of soldiers.
The committee works hard for better schools.
Why Singular ? schools are plural like sandwiches in the next sentence you used plural then why here singular?
The
committee
are having sandwiches for lunch.
Why Plural ? above sentence schools you wrote singular than why here plural for sandwiches ? Earlier you wrote is then you changed to are we noticed that.
A bouquet of yellow roses lends colour and fragrance to the room.
Why Singular ?
The jury were polled for their verdicts.
Why Plural....were....The jury is collective noun then why used were?
