Q.Transition metals show variability in oxidation states give a reason?
A: due to the involvement of both ns and (n-1)d orbitals
Q.what is the cause of variation of oxidation states in transition and Non-transitional elements?
A.the reason for transitional is incompletely filled or partially filled d-orbitals
my question is that for the second answer can we add the answer to the first question?
