1.68 G of sodium bicarbonate is heated in a dry test tube to form 1.06 G of sodium carbonate and water vapour found is considered to give 0.18 gram of liquid water then do you think that you verify the law of conservation of mass give reason for your answer

Dear student,

The balanced equation of heating of sodium bicarbonate is as follows-

2NaHCO3 Na2CO3 + H2O + CO2
Mass of reactant = 1.68 g
Mass of product = 1.06g + 0.18g + 0.44
Here, in the question, there is no given information about carbon dioxide, so according to the conservation of mass law mass of reactant must be equal to the mass of products. Hence, there will be a mass of carbon dioxide also.

The Law of conservation of mass is a universal law, it will be applied to all types of reaction. There are some limitations also that you will learn in your higher grades. For your level, it will be always applicable.
