1. A violin and a flute are both played at the same time in an orchestra. Both sounds travel through the same medium and arrive at our ear at the same time. Both sounds travel at the same speed irrespective of source but the sounds we receive are different. What are the characteristics that differentiate the two sounds?
The major cause of that is the factor called timbre. In some cases the time might be same but the frequency and resonance may be difference.
