1) what are haploid and diploid cells?

2) what are autosomes and what function do thry perform?

Answer 1

A haploid cell can be defined as a cell which contains one complete set of chromosomes. The chromosomes do not occur in pairs in haploid cell and the haploid chromosomal number is depicted by ā€˜nā€™. For example: In humans the haploid number is 23.

A diploid cell is a cell which contains two complete sets of chromosomes. The chromosomes occur in pairs in diploid cell and the diploid chromosomal number is depicted by ā€˜2nā€™. For example: In humans the diploid number is 46.

Answer 2

All the chromosomes except for the sex chromosomes are known as autosomes. They control all the body functions and contain the hereditary information of all the functions apart from the ones which are involved in development of sexual characters.

The cells which are genetically unique are called haploid cells.

the cells which are genetically identical are called diploid cells

Autosomes are chromosomes other than the chromosomes which determine the offspring is going to be a male or female. They serve no special function except that they each contain different genetic instructions.

Diploid cells have 2 sets of chromosomes, or 46 chromosomes.
Haploid cells have only 1 set of chromosomes, or 23 chromosomes.

The cells which are genetically unique are called haploid cells.

the cells which are genetically identical are called diploid cells

Diploid cells have 2 sets of chromosomes , or 46 chromosomes.
Haploid cells have only 1 set of chromosomes, or 23 chromosomes

Autosomes are chromosomes other than the chromosomes which determine the offspring is going to be a male or female. They serve no special function except that they each contain different genetic instructions.

An autosome is a chromosome that is not an allosome
