1.what is migration?why do people migrate?
2.explain how slums are a major burden on city resources?
Dear Student,
Migration can be defined as a physical transition from one society to another. This transition usually involves abandoning one social setting and entering another and different one. It is of two types:
- Emigration
- Immigration
People migrate because of "push" and "pull" factors:
- Push: Poor economic condition, lack of opportunity for advancement ,ultimate rural poverty
- Pull: Better employment facilities, amenities, higher wages, modern life etc.
Slums are a major burden on city resources because they are the pockets of diseases which may turn out to be pandemic, poverty and crime.
