~~13) Discuss the theme of fear and sadistic pleasure in the novel ‘The Invisible Man’.  (120-150 words)

Fear is an important theme in 'The Invisible Man' Right from the beginning we see that fear plays a major role in ruling the actions of the people. The villagers and the owners of the inn are afraid of the protagonist in the novel and this fear makes them confront him. The invisible man too, is afraid of being found out and all his actions revolve around this. His fear of being caught makes him run from his home and later from the village of Iping.   The protagonist is seen to take sadistic pleasure in scaring and hurting people. He beats up a shopkeeper and kills an old man without feeling remorse. Out of his fear is born the desire to hurt others and make them afraid of him.This sadistic thirst of hurting people leads him to his end.
