2. Motion is relative not absolute. Justify the statement giving suitable
reason/reasons.

Dear  Student,

There is no such term called absolute motion and all motions are relative. A body is moving with respect to a body at rest but it may be in rest with respect to another moving body with same speed.

Hence rest and motion are relative to each other as motion and rest depends on the observer or frame reference or observation.

For example, consider the situation where two persons are sitting in a moving bus. Both of them are at rest w.r.t each other but are in motion w.r.t. a person standing on the road. Also, trees, buildings, etc on the surface of the Earth appear to be at rest but as a whole they are in motion as the Earth revolves around the Sun.

Motion is a relative term because it depends on the observer's frame. It is not absolute because a body in motion according to an object can be called at rest with the view of another object.
